Program Development

I have a proven portfolio of programming that connects with audiences in fresh and unexpected ways, whether that’s a puzzle scavenger hunt, a graphic guide or a pop-up exhibit. I am particularly inspired by opportunities to develop entertaining and memorable experiences that function at multiple levels, helping build recognition, generate revenue and shed fresh light on key concepts or collections.

The EXPRESSway, a.k.a. Loud and Proud

  • This hands-on program, which I originally created to activate a dormant space in the Newseum, is offered as an admission upgrade. It invites participants to draw inspiration from notable free expression moments throughout history, then craft their own messages to take into the wider world. A mobile cart offers an array of “swag” to customize for an “Instagrammable” experience with an educational backbone.

Ace Reporter Challenge

  • I developed this team-building experience to bring the thrill of a puzzle-solving treasure hunt into the galleries of the Newseum while also expanding the museum’s reach and revenue-generating opportunities. Offered to corporate and tour groups ranging in size from half a dozen to over 100 participants, it includes five individual challenges that call on different problem-solving skills. The range of puzzles inspires groups to learn about each other’s strengths as they race to be the first team to crack the final code word.

Pop-Up Exhibits

  • I’ve created two original exhibits to help organizations tell compelling stories at signature events. For the American Association of University Women, I led the creation of a display that tied their history of advocacy for women’s education to the evolution and accomplishments of the women’s suffrage movement. For the Student Youth Travel Association, I turned a hodgepodge file of memorabilia and photographs from the organization’s 30-year history into a cohesive story about their origins and evolution. A massive timeline of meaningful moments welcomed members to their annual conference.

Family Days

  • I’ve developed many attendance-generating theme days, each offering an array of family-oriented activities, from scavenger hunts and photo ops to interactive readings and games. My personal favorite celebrated the record-breaking around-the-world journey of pioneering journalist Nellie Bly. Visitors could complete projects highlighting different stops along her trip at stations throughout the museum, creating their own rucksack full of international mementos.
